39% in India, ~5% in UK
Habits

There is no reliable global count. India has by far the highest share: 39% of adults called themselves vegetarian in a 2021 Pew survey, and 81% limit meat in some way. In the UK, YouGov tracking finds about 5% vegetarian and 2 to 3% vegan, figures that have barely moved since 2019. Most Western countries sit in the 2 to 10% range.
