What percentage of people own their home?

There is no clean global figure; survey coverage is patchy outside rich countries. In OECD countries, ownership ranges from over 90% of households in Romania to under 45% in Switzerland and Germany, where renting is the norm. The US rate is about 65%. Ownership has fallen for younger adults in most English-speaking countries since the 1990s.
