What is the most spoken language in the world?

Mandarin Chinese has the most native speakers at about 940 million. English has about 380 million native speakers but around 1.5 billion speakers in total once second-language users are counted, which makes it the most spoken language overall. Spanish (about 485 million native speakers) and Hindi follow.
