How many hairs does the average person have on their head?

The average scalp carries roughly 100,000 hair follicles. Natural blondes tend to have more (about 150,000) and redheads fewer (about 90,000). People shed 50 to 100 hairs a day. Scalp hair grows about 1 cm a month, and each hair lives 2 to 7 years before it falls out and the follicle starts again.
