Are there more bacteria than human cells in your body?

Your body has roughly as many bacterial cells as human cells, about 38 trillion to 30 trillion. The old '10 to 1' figure was an estimate that nobody had checked for 40 years.

Context

About the same number. Sender, Fuchs and Milo put it at roughly 38 trillion bacterial cells to 30 trillion human cells in 2016, with most of the bacteria in the colon.

The older "10 to 1" ratio had been repeated for 40 years without anyone going back to check the arithmetic. The bacteria are also much smaller, so by weight you are overwhelmingly human.
