What percentage of global energy comes from renewables?

Renewables generated about 30% of the world's electricity in 2023, up from around 22% in 2015, with hydro still the largest single source. But electricity is only about a fifth of final energy use. Heating, transport and industry are mostly still fossil-fuelled, so renewables cover roughly 13 to 15% of total energy.
