At an average resting heart rate of 70 bpm, the heart beats about 100,000 times per day. Over a 75-year lifetime, that's approximately 2.7 billion beats. Elephants live longer despite slower hearts (~30 bpm) — a pattern known as the 'heartbeat theory': most mammals get about 1.5 billion total beats.
