How many bacteria are in the human body?
The human body contains approximately 38 trillion bacterial cells — slightly more than the 30 trillion human cells. Most live in the gut. The microbiome collectively contains 150 times more genes than the human genome. Disruption of gut bacteria is linked to obesity, depression, and immune disorders.
